Sluby

Sign in and out

Sign in to the Studio with your email and password or with GitHub, join from an invite link, set a new password from a reset link, and sign out.

Sign in to the Studio, join a team from an invite link, or set a new password from a reset link. This page also explains the messages the sign-in screen shows and what to do about each.

Sign in with email and password

Open the Studio at your server's address, for example https://sluby.example.com/studio. The screen reads Sign in to Sluby Studio.

Enter your Email and Password. The eye button in the password field (Show password) shows what you typed.

Click Sign in. The Studio opens.

Your email is not case sensitive. There is no sign-up form: the line under the form reads "New here? Ask an admin for an invite link."

Sign in with GitHub

When the server has GitHub sign-in set up, the sign-in screen shows Continue with GitHub under the form. Click it, approve the request on GitHub, and you return to the Studio page you started from.

GitHub sign-in works only for a GitHub account that already belongs to a member of this Studio. That is the case when you joined with GitHub from an invite link, or when you linked GitHub in Settings. Otherwise the screen says "GitHub account <handle> is not a member of this workspace. Ask an admin for an invite."

An admin sends you an invite link that starts with your server's address and contains /studio/join/.

Open the link. The screen reads Join Sluby Studio and says whether you join as an admin or a member, and until when the invite works.

Fill in Your name, Email and Password. You choose your own email. The password needs at least 10 characters.

Click Join. You are signed in and the Studio opens on the Overview page.

To join with your GitHub account instead, click Continue with GitHub on the same screen. The button shows only when the server has GitHub sign-in set up.

An invite link stops working when it expires, when an admin revokes it, or once as many people have joined with it as the admin allowed. If yours no longer works, ask the admin for a new one (how admins create invites).

You cannot reset your own password from the sign-in screen. If you forgot it, ask an admin for a reset link (how admins create reset links). The link contains /studio/reset/.

Open the link. The screen reads Set a new password and shows until when the link works.

Enter a New password (at least 10 characters) and type it again in Confirm new password.

Click Set password. You are signed in, and every other browser signed in to your account is signed out.

If you signed in only with GitHub until now, the screen reads "Choose the email and password you will sign in with." and also asks for an Email. After that you can sign in with either method.

Sign out

Click your initials at the top right to open the account menu, then click Sign out. On a phone, open the menu button at the top left: the account menu sits at the bottom of the sheet. The Studio returns to the sign-in screen.

You can also press Ctrl K (⌘K on a Mac), type "Sign out" and press Enter.

To sign out every browser at once, or one browser you do not recognize, use Signed-in browsers in Settings.

Password rules

These rules apply wherever you choose a password: when you join, set up the first admin, use a reset link, or change your password.

  • At least 10 characters.
  • At most 256 characters.

When the Studio cannot reach the server

Instead of the sign-in form, the Studio shows one of these, with a Try again button:

  • Could not reach the server: check your connection, or ask the person who runs the server whether it is running.
  • The server ran into a problem: the server answered with an error. Try again in a moment.
  • Could not check your session: the server gave an answer the Studio could not use. The screen shows the reason.
